Real Estate: New Website and Social Media Efforts Allow Interaction in the Westside of Los Angeles Real Estate Market

Santa Monica, California (PRWEB) November 10, 2011

25 year Westside of Los Angeles real estate expert, Gary Limjap, felt that it was important to have a functionally-enhanced website at http://www.garylimjap.com, along with social media outlets to help reassert his commitment to providing the best possible real estate marketing services and programs to his clients. As a better way to demonstrate his commitment to customer service and satisfaction, Gary Limjap selected a new website design that is sleek, sophisticated and functional; and most importantly reflects Gary's leading position in the local real estate market.

I wanted a more robust website for http://www.garylimjap.com that takes advantage of all that Web 2.0 technology has to offer, says Gary Limjap. So many real estate agents have nothing more than online brochures as websites. I wanted to go beyond that and integrate social networks such as Facebook & LinkedIn, post videos on YouTube, and utilize blogs, Google Maps, Walkscore and Trulia statistics to assist in selling properties. These capabilities allow me to have a two-way communication with my clients and potential clients, all within one site.

The new site showcases a proficiency in Web 2.0 technology by using Java, JavaScript, Web Services, CSS and open source Content Management System (CMS) platforms, such as Wordpress to create a modernized website with user-friendly navigation. Gary is always looking to use new technologies to help increase exposure to his clients properties. He hired local, search engine optimization (SEO) experts to help boost his rankings; while on the print side, Gary utilizes Quick Response (QR) codes on all marketing collateral, for an easy way to get people to the right source of information. With these advanced platforms, Gary is able to answer inquiries and schedule appointments through a variety of networks and actively blog to help keep his clients up to date on local real estate matters.

The new website, launched on October 31st, 2011, presents Gary Limjaps vision through a synthesis of images and content which is completed with a series of sub-navigation pages. Connecting on a series of eye catching images, http://www.garylimjap.com illustrates Garys involvement in many exciting real estate properties, as well as his approach to servicing and marketing for his clients throughout Los Angeles.

MEDIA ADVISORY: Schools Facing Learning Crisis Spawned by Internet

Austin, TX (PRWEB) January 28, 2011

Schools around the nation are facing a learning crisis caused by the Internet, a national expert will tell superintendents Monday.

Dr. Donald Leu, lead researcher for a compelling study funded by the U.S. Department of Education about students' Internet use, will tell Texas educators how to deal with the urgent problem and consequences of children's online learning.

"These results (of the federal study) are cause for serious concern," said Don Leu, former teacher, national authority on integrating technology into instruction, and contributing author for print and digital classroom materials developed by Pearson. "Anyone can publish anything on the Internet and today's students are not prepared to critically evaluate the information they find there."

Pearson, the leading provider of educational technology, materials and services, is sponsoring Dr. Leu's address to superintendents and other Texas education leaders on Monday, Jan. 31 from 9:30-10:30 a.m. at the Texas Association of School Administrators Conference. His featured session will be held in Ballroom F at the Austin Convention Center, 500 E. Cesar Chavez St.

An alarming number of the Facebook generation of students known as "digital natives" for their tech saviness fail to recognize or process accurate facts found online and are graduating from school without important skills needed to meet the demands of college and the workforce, said Dr. Leu, founder and director of the New Literacies Research Lab at the University of Connecticut--the only academic research center of its kind.

Most students "simply have very little in the way of critical evaluation skills," he said. "They may tell you they don't believe everything they read on the Internet, but they do."

As an example, students identified by their schools as the most proficient online readers participated in a study at the New Literacies lab. They too fell short in the ability to critically analyze what they found on the Internet. In the research study, they were asked to learn about an effort to "Save the Endangered Pacific Northwest Tree Octopus." Students had no problem locating a website dedicated to the cause (http://zapatopi.net/treeoctopus/) and insisted on the existence of the made-up story, even after researchers explained the information on the website was completely fabricated.

Studies show students tend to "evaluate the reliability" of information they find on the Internet based on the volume of information they find about the subject, not on whether the information is reasonable or even believable, Leu said.

Rather than use a traditional search engine such as Google or Yahoo, Leu's studies show about half of seventh graders simply type what they believe will be an appropriate website address into the address bar. For example, rather than googling "George Washington" to search a series of references about America's first president, students will simply type in "GeorgeWashington.com".

"That's what children do with their rock stars and their other cultural stars. They are accustomed to typing in the name and adding '.com.' That often doesn't work for real academic research," Leu said.

Among students who do actually use search engines for research, many do not know how to use the results, he said. Typically, students will click on the first listing at the top of the search results page and take a quick look at that, then continue down the list without looking closely at the source of the website to determine if it is the best provider of the information they need.

"Often they pass right by the website they should be looking at because it doesn't look like the website they have in their mind," Leu said.

Failing to deal with the problem of how children use the Internet for learning could have dire consequences for education, Leu said. Schools need to teach students important skills such as how to use Internet search engines and how to decipher the information they receive, he added.

MEDIA ADVISORY: New Instructional Materials for Texas Pre-Kindergarten Classrooms Premiering at State Capitol Tuesday

Austin, TX (PRWEB) January 31, 2011

Schools across Texas are right now choosing instructional programs for next school year, and the public can get a sneak preview of the new, more rigorous pre-K materials on Tuesday. The state's youngest students will head back to school with brand new materials in the fall, and Pearson's Opening the World of Learning (OWL) program, approved for use across the state, will be on display at the capitol.

The OWL program consists of new, more rigorous digital and print instructional materials, as teachers and school districts across the state recognize that early learning is more important than ever to prepare students for college and the workforce.

Pearson's pre-K program will be available for parents, public officials, educators and media to preview at the state capitol in Austin on Tuesday, Feb. 1, from 10 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.

Pearson's Pre-K program, heavily integrated with math, was developed by early childhood education experts as compelling new research* shows early exposure to math affects students' chances of going to college.

Texas schools have been using their current Pre-K materials since 2003. OWL, a comprehensive Pre-K curriculum designed for Texas classrooms, will help teachers effectively introduce math concepts and set children on a path to college readiness.

Dr. Juanita Copley is the authority on using math in the classroom to prepare pre-Kindergarten students for success in Kindergarten and beyond. Dr. Copley was instrumental in the development of OWL, which integrates math and science along with language development and other critical skills for students throughout its lessons.

"What children learn in their early years can set them on a path for lifelong success," said Dr. Copley, a veteran teacher of nearly 40 years and professor emeritus of education at the University of Houston. "Children's brains are growing at a rapid rate in the pre-school years, and immersing them in math, science, reading, and more -- inviting them to become explorers of their world -- helps them to not only learn facts and figures, but to recognize their own ability to learn and discover throughout their school years."

Aligned to the state's Pre-K curriculum guidelines, OWL provides an exhaustive list of resources to help children, whether English-speakers or not, develop English vocabulary at an amazing rate of 3,000-4,000 words, which research shows is critical to best prepare children for Kindergarten and long-term school success. Math and science are embedded into OWL's vocabulary, reading and other instruction.

SEO Positive Unveils Plans To Better Report The ROI Behind Social Media

(PRWEB UK) 14 November 2011

As one of the UKs most innovative SEO companies, SEO Positive is no stranger to adapting to new optimisation techniques and expanding campaigns to meet the demand of clients. 2011 has been the year that social media marketing evolved into a profession in its own right, and now the SEO firm has announced plans to provide clients with a social media 'checklist' that will reassure clients that they truly are seeing an improvement to their marketing campaign by investing in the professional social networking approach.

Social media as a promotional approach is both loved and loathed by modern-day webmasters. Many business owners find it difficult to justify investing in a professional social media marketing campaign as it can be hard to measure the direct return on the investment. This is because social profiles and accounts are generally used to build all-important relationships with consumers rather than sell to the audience directly.

As such, SEO Positive appreciates that business owners are looking for solid metrics to justify their social campaigns thankfully, this online promotions firm is able to present webmasters with the means to control the time and money spent on managing the social approach.

Lewis Austin, Head of Social at SEO Positive, is quick to mention the benefits of Klout.com, a website that specialises in measuring the social influence of companies on social sites such as Facebook and Twitter with its Klout score (a scale of 1 to 100). This tool may not directly track outgoings but does help companies understand the strength of their campaigns.

Some critics say that the Klout Score is a useless statistic because Twitter followers and Facebook friends can either be added with minimal effort or simply bought outright, Lewis explains. "We think that Klout is actually helpful if you know your friends and you didnt add them just to get a higher score. Our service is all about ethical, worthwhile social development, which means that the Klout score will remain an accurate depiction of your influence if we are involved in your campaign.

Lewis also stresses that clients can, for example, utilise Google Alerts to track how many times their brand name or specific key term has been mentioned online. He also sings the praises of the newer version of Google Analytics as this piece of software allows clients to keep on top of landing page visits and conversion rates.

All in all, if businesses trading on the web need any assurance that social media management is in fact going to benefit their online campaign, SEO Positive would encourage such corporations to get in touch for an in depth assessment of their social efforts and a clear explanation of the advantages behind social networking.

SEO Positive was established in 2007 in Chelmsford, Essex with the aim of bringing effective yet affordable online marketing services to companies from all industries and backgrounds. The company offers a huge range of services including search engine optimisation, Pay Per Click account management, social media marketing and website design.
